Last night at the conclusion of the Community Days event, UTV 21 was requested to assist the police with a woman in the woods in the township. The UTV deployed immediately to the scene and was escorted by Chief 21-2. While the person was located by the police, it was a great opportunity to utilize the township's new drone and use the situation to try out Chief 21's new vehicle set up that has been in the works for the last year. It was not used to locate her but provided aerial lighting, and it was a great dry run of the system.
We felt it was smart to equip this vehicle differently than any other in the township since Chief Garing is also the EMA coordinator. Essentially, it has the all of the necessary equipment to set up a field command post for any expanding incident. It has radios, chargers, computers, triple monitors, mounted monitor, on board generator, lighting, drone (w/thermal), seating, tents, WiFi, remote mobile heads, command boards, etc. All of this was done to help public safety do their job in Cranberry, as well as being available as a deployable asset anywhere else in a moments notice. |
