Fire Alarm Alerts Crews to Fire in an Apartment

Around 1:30PM on Sunday, January 17th, volunteers from Station 21 were dispatched to an Automatic Fire Alarm at the Berkley Manor Apartment Complex off Freedom Road. Crews arrived on-scene to find smoke coming from a 3rd floor apartment. Crews quickly made entry into the apartment and located a small fire in the laundry room that was mostly extinguished by the automatic fire sprinkler system. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire, ventilate the structure and work to contain the water damage caused by the sprinkler activation. A 2nd alarm was called upon confirmation of the fire bringing Adams Area Fire District (42), Harmony Fire District (22), Marshall Township VFC (185) and Big Knob VFD (26) as well as Cranberry Township Police and EMS. Crews were on scene for approximately 2 hours.
