| A neighbor that lived a street away smelled smoke and decided to take matters into their own hands and investigate it at 330 in the morning. He found the source after a brief walk and he called 911. He extinguished most of the fire with a garden hose from a neighboring home. Engine 21-2 responded immediately and secured their own water source, started overhaul, searches, and checked for extension. The fire was contained to the deck, unknown what caused it.
Kudos to the man that did this action- he wishes to not be named but he saved property and possibly lives by taking matters into his own hands and investigating the cause of the smell. There were numerous people inside the home when the FD arrived. 👏👏
