Today the CTVFC laid to rest Richard C. Cancilla, a beloved member of our community and a passionate servant of the fire service. Rich, 82, proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and continued that spirit of service throughout his life as a devoted volunteer with the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was the kind of person who showed up — not for recognition, but because helping others was simply part of who he was. His time with the department was marked by humility, dedication, and a genuine love for serving the residents of this community. Outside of the firehouse, Rich was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, golfing, and traveling. But what mattered most to him was his family — his wife of 54 years, Janice, his sons Doug and Daniel, and a wide circle of siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him dearly. He was a man of faith, a proud veteran, and a lifelong volunteer who made the world a better place in quiet but powerful ways. Rich’s legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched, both in and out of uniform. We offer our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Rest easy, Rich — your service will never be forgotten. |
