Lieutenant Mack and Chief Garing were recognized by numerous local & state agencies for the role they played in the successful resuscitation of a patient who suffered from a sudden cardiac arrest last month. While they were both at the Haine firehouse they quickly responded to the reported cardiac arrest. They arrived approximately 2 minutes later with the police. They took over CPR that was being done by the bystanders and worked with the police to administer shocks from the AED. Crews continued efforts until EMS arrived and care was transferred. Early notification, CPR, and quick access to an AED are key components in the chain of survival- on this day all of those pieces came together to save a man’s life!
