Members Head back to College

August 14, 2016

As summer wanes and the days get shorter it is time for students to return to college. Two of our active members either have already departed, or soon will be departing, for their freshman year. Luke Moran, son of member Matt Moran, left for The Citadel on Thursday, August 11th, and Matt Pristas, son of member/Director John Pristas will leave for Penn State on August 20th.

Additionally, Daniel Hayden, brother of Lieutenant Sean Hayden, will be continuing his education at Kent State University by spending a semester in Denver, CO, with an internship at United Airlines as he pursues his goal of becoming a commercial airline pilot.

Daniel, Luke and Matt all started as junior firefighters with the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company, and are now valued senior firefighters.

The CTVFC has a junior firefighter program for youth ages 16 and 17, which allows them to train and learn about the fire service which leads to senior membership at age 18 if training and membership conditions are met.

If you, or someone you know that is 16 or 17 years old, is interested in becoming a firefighter, please contact our membership committee via our website and someone will get back to you.

We wish our departing college students a successful semester, and we hope to welcome some new members in the near future.
