Over the last week, Cranberry Township and the surrounding areas have been hit with unusually severe weather, including flooding, lightning strikes and wind damage resulting in property and tree damage. This has kept our volunteers and Township Public Works department busy! On 8/29, CTVFC responded to a structure fire reportedly cause by a direct lightning strike. T21 and E21 responded immediately upon dispatch and arrived to find fire already burning through the roof. Crews were assisted by mutual aid departments while the CTVFC continued to receive multiple requests for assistance, handled by additional volunteers and outside agencies. In total, CTVFC responded to 12 "official" calls for assistance on 8/25 and 16 on 8/29, while investigating numerous other incidents. Thank you for all the mutual aid and Public Works assistance to keep our community safe!
