Equine Rescue

It may not have been a Triple Crown race, but members of the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company worked fast to handle a unique accident scene Wednesday.

Members responded to a vehicle accident involving a horse trailer on Interstate 79. On arrival, two horses were entrapped between the dividers of the trailer with one horse on its side.

Crews removed the hinge pins of the dividers with the help of the owners to keep the horses calm. The horses were doing remarkably well after such an incident and were being tended to by Allegheny Equine on scene.

Perhaps the horseshoes on board the vehicle brought extra luck to all involved.
