Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

March 6, 2017

A very busy weekend for the volunteers of the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company started with the 4:17 PM dispatch for a structure fire in Zelienople on Friday afternoon. Fourteen firefighters initially responded to assist the Harmony Fire District Station 22, and were assisted by Adams Area Fire District Station 42, Evans City Volunteer Fire Company Station 20, and Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department (Beaver County Station 70). Upon arrival, station 21 members assisted in establishing a water supply for Evans City's engine, extinguishment of the fire, and overhaul. All units and personnel were back in service by 6:00 PM. We would like to thank Adams Area Station 42 for providing coverage in our station while we were out on this call.

Later Friday evening at approximately 11:00 station 21 was once again dispatched for a structure fire, this time to provide RIT (a Rapid Intervention Team), for Wexford Volunteer Fire Company (Allegheny County Station 228). Seven station 21 personnel responded, along with personnel from Harmony Fire District Station 22 and Adams Area Station 42. This time, firefighters from Big Knob Volunteer Fire Department in Beaver County (Station 26) provided coverage at our station while we were out of the county.

All personnel were returning back to Cranberry Township at approximately 2:00 AM when two automatic alarms once again dispatched station 21. Shortly after these two automatic alarms, we were once again dispatched at approximately 4:00 AM for another automatic alarm. By 4:30 AM our long night was over, and all personnel and units were back in service. Thanks are to be extended to Big Knob Fire Department that provided coverage for our residents while we were out of the county, and also for assisting in responding to several of the auto alarms.

After a brief respite, Cranberry Station 21 was once again dispatched back into action Saturday afternoon to assist Adams Area Station 42, Harmony Fire District Station 22, and Wexford Fire Company Station 228 (Allegheny County) with a structure fire assignment. This call was proceeded by three calls for an auto alarm, a smoke investigation, and a gas leak in the Township, bringing the total calls to four by just after noon on Saturday.

Adams Area made quick work of the fire prior to our arrival, and we provided assistance in extinguishing the remaining fire, salvage and overhaul. By 5:00 PM on Saturday all personnel were back in service.

Our weekend ended with another automatic alarm on Saturday afternoon, one automatic alarm at 2:00 AM Sunday morning, and one last automatic alarm Sunday afternoon.

In total Cranberry Township ran 12 calls this past weekend capping a very busy weekend of activity.
